Vaarahi is one of the Saivite Shakti deities with the group of goddesses known as Saptamatrukas or the "Seven Mothers". The seven mothers are: Brahmi, Maheshvari, Kaumari, Vaishnavi, Vaarahi, Mahendri and Chamundi. They are the Shakti (female) equivalents of their male counterparts.
